Osteoarthritis sufferers – they’re not who you’d think!

Osteoarthritis sufferers – they’re not who you’d think!

When osteoarthritis is discussed, the image is often one of an elderly person hobbling along with joint pain. That is not always the case. Over the years, athletes such as Shaquille O’Neal, Dorothy Hamill and Wayne Gretzky have struggled with osteoarthritis.

Osteoarthritis is a common ailment in athletes. After years of running and jumping, the impact causes the cartilage to deteriorate, exposing the joints that form at the end of your bones.

The impact of carrying extra weight can also be a leading factor in osteoarthritis. A recent John Hopkins study says that being only 10 pounds overweight causes extra force on the knee of “30-60 pounds per step!” The study also found that overweight women are 4 times more likely to have osteoarthritis than women with a lower BMI.

As more and more people struggle with osteoarthritis, the need for medical advances increase. Please consider joining our current clinical study on osteoarthritis by clicking here: http://ow.ly/ZQr3n
